Reputation is very important in the business world. When a business gets a reputation of failing to treat its employees correctly, problems occur. It is harder for a company to find employees when they have a negative reputation.
The reputation not only suffers in the eyes of employees, but in the eyes of clients as well. Businesses have to work constantly to make sure they have a positive reputation that the public can see.
When outplacement is used instead of simply laying someone off, they are able to keep their reputation in good standing. They are seen as a caring employer who wants the best for their employees. That can go a long way to secure long term employees and to find future clients.
