Military Careers – serve the country

Military Careers

Want to "be all that you can be?" A career in the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines or Navy might prove rewarding.

Get overviews of jobs in each branch of service at Military Careers Online. In addition to combat positions, you can find out what it takes to become a dental specialist in the Army or an air traffic controller for the Air Force. Also, learn about the benefits of military life, like college tuition, travel and job training. Salary is another important consideration. CareerAdvisor.com lists basic monthly pay for everyone from commissioned officers ($1,636 – $3,449) to recruits ($854). The site also has information on retirement, education and veterans’ benefits.

Air Force

Current Military Employment Opportunities

Army

The Army Recruiting site gives visitors information about enlistment bonuses and options. You can also follow 6 recruits through Basic Training or ask questions in the RecruiterChat, which takes place Monday through Friday.

Coast Guard

Maritime security, oil spill response and vessel inspections are all part of Coast Guard careers. The Coast Guard is the service with the most assignments in the country – suitable for those not wanting to stray too far from home.

Marines

The Marines execute missions on land, air and sea to protect nuclear weapon sites and American embassies. Many of their assignments deal with rapid crisis response, so they can be deployed to any international location within a day. The Marines Corps Recruiting site lists the requirements and benefits of enlistment. USMC.mil has more career information and history.

Navy

Find out about opportunities for high school and college graduates at Navy.com. Visitors can also watch videos of the Navy SEALs and band. The site has information about training programs and earning money for college. Learn more about Navy ships and aircraft at the official U.S. Navy site.

ROTC

To get a head start in a military career while still in college, consider joining the Reserve Officer Training Corps. Students can enroll in ROTC classes at many colleges. For more information, visit the Army ROTC.
