A part-time weekend job is a great employment opportunity, whether it be as a second job to provide additional income, to pick up some extra cash on the weekends while your spouse is taking care of the kids, or as something fun to occupy your time during the weekends.  No matter what your reason, there are plenty of employment opportunities for part-time weekend jobs.

Retail
Weekends are some of the busiest days at shopping centers.  While everyone else spends their day-off work by spending money, you could earn major dollars through part-time weekend jobs in retail.  If you are an especially strong seller, you may also want to consider retail and sales employment opportunities that are based on commission.

Food service
There are endless employment opportunities for part-time weekend jobs in the restaurant and food service industry.  From waiters and waitresses, to hosts and hostesses, bus staff, baristas, bartenders and banquet servers, weekend workers are in high demand.  Just like retail, the food industry is often at its peak on weekends.

Instructor
If there is something you are good at doing, use it to your advantage and make some money!  Look into a local park district or health and recreation center where you could teach a weekend class, such as fitness, pilates, cooking or cake decorating.  Teaching a class would be a fun option for a part-time weekend job.  Piano, guitar or voice lessons are also great weekend employment opportunities.

Healthcare
The healthcare industry is one of the few industries that literally works around the clock.  Nursing is a great opportunity for part-time weekend jobs because there is a strong need for evening nurses, night nurses and weekend nurses.  Physical therapists and speech pathologists are also good part-time weekend jobs for those of you with a medical background.

The hospitality and recreation industries are typically at their busiest during weekends, so why not try being a tour guide?  Local museums, zoos and tourist attractions are great places to look for part-time weekend jobs.  Be sure to investigate all options for possible local employment opportunities, such as your town’s historical society or nature center.

Tutor Many students are too busy during weekdays with extracurricular activities, so they schedule tutoring sessions on weekends.  If you are interested in being a tutor, you may choose to seek out your own clients by speaking with parents and school teachers, or you have the option of tutoring through a company such as Sylvan Learning Center, Huntington Learning Center or Kumon.  Tutoring is also a great part-time weekend job for high school students.

Security There are many staffing companies that specialize in hiring security officers for contract work.  Other companies, such as casinos, hire “in-house” security guards to work directly for their company.  Part-time weekend jobs in security often do not require much experience, so they may also provide great entry-level employment opportunities.
