Even though Christmas is a widely celebrated holiday in the United States, this does not mean that the whole country shuts down.  There are still a few stores open on Christmas, as well as some restaurants open on Christmas.  For those of you who do not celebrate Christmas, you may be interested in working at one of these stores or restaurants — the time-and-a-half holiday pay is a huge perk of working at stores open on Christmas.  Here is a list of restaurants and stores that may be open on Christmas.  Keep in mind that the stores open on Christmas will vary by location.  For example, a Starbucks or grocery store may be closed in your town but open in the next town over.  Before heading out in the snowy weather for last minute shopping or to grab a bite to eat, it is best to call these stores ahead of time to make sure they are open and check on any special holiday hours.

Drugstores Open on Christmas - Whether you need to pick up some over-the-counter medicine or you ran out of wrapping paper, drugstores have a lot to offer and are one of the few stores that you can always count on to be open on Christmas day.

Restaurants Open on Christmas - There is no guarantee that these restaurants will be open on Christmas at every location across the U.S., so be sure to call ahead first. Many local and family-owned restaurants that are not part of major chains may also be good options for finding restaurants open on Christmas.  Fancy restaurants may also be open on Christmas, but be sure to call in advance to make your reservations.

Local Delis, Supermarkets or Convenience Stores In areas that are not predominately Christian, there may be a lot more stores open on Christmas.  Just as Chinese restaurants are usually open on Christmas, Kosher delis or stores owned by people who don’t celebrate Christian holidays may also be opened.
