The Best Employee Perks & Benefits

The Best Perks.

Three-quarters of companies in the United States and Canada have problems finding qualified employees, according to a survey by the William Olsten Center. As a result, employers have been doing some homework on how to attract and retain workers.

Their answer? Beefed-up benefit packages designed to charm and pamper good workers. Of Fortune’s 100 Best Companies, 83% offer child-care services, 73% offer elderly care and 60% offer adoption services.

Current Employment Opportunities

Here’s how some employers are expressing their appreciation:

  • Dinner and Flowers To Go
    Amgen Biotechnology Company
This California company tantalizes workers with an on-site day care center that parents can visit during breaks, an in-house florist, a photo developer and a cafeteria that prepares family-sized meals to go.
  • Perks for New Parents
    Patagonia, Inc.
Patagonia offers new moms and dads eight weeks paid leave and a "work-family" program that reintroduces parents to the workplace slowly.
  • A Company Home?
    Sprint
Sprint is ringing in new employees with a program that finances continued education and matches employee contributions to educational institutes. Sprint also buys homes that are later made available for employee purchase. If an employee buys a Sprint home, the company gives back 2% of the sale price.
