Family Circle magazine recently selected America’s best towns for families. The selection committee waded through almost 2,000 American towns, ranging in population size from 15,000 to 150,000. The magazine hoped to find a combination of suburbia (with the amenities that provides) and big city benefits. Family Circle used a wide variety of selection criteria in order to find the top 10. Among the requirements: low cost of living, plenty of jobs, good schools, excellent health care, low crime rate and enough green space for community activities and recreational opportunities. These towns are all close to larger cities that provide additional chances for culture, diversity and family fun.
