Currently we are seeking an Applications Engineer to join our dynamic Engineering team in Virginia Beach. To be considered a qualified candidate you must meet the minimum requirements for the position as listed below.

JOB SUMMARY:
Generate comprehensive quotations, calculate thermodynamic and gas law relationships, design vacuum systems, answer telephone inquiries concerning equipment sizing and pricing and service related topics, present technical talks, assist in the technical training of customers and Busch personnel and write technical articles and field advisories. Lead the design process for Industrial vacuum systems and manage these projects to meet customer expectations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Evaluate requests for quotation, obtain all missing and resolve contradictory information.

Design proposed vacuum system to meet the customer’s requirements, calculating gas flows, pressure drops and heat load requirements.

Select and cost all quoted components.

Recommend system selling price based on established profit margin criteria.

Prepare and keyboard comprehensive price quotations within customer and departmental time requirements.

Interface with customers and field personnel, on the phone and in person, providing information on pricing, equipment operation, and trouble shooting.

Check all pump and system orders for correctness and for agreement with the quotation.

Assist the Service Department, as requested, in establishing safe operating procedures and in resolving field problems.

Provide field sales and marketing with technical information, such as reports, charts, nomograph, and calculations to aid in selling the Busch products.

Execute the role of a “Project Leader" in the design, development and manufacturing of standard and custom industrial vacuum systems.

Manages system design process to meet customer expectations. This includes but is not limited to application knowledge, customer requirements, drawings and design compliance, system functionality, project planning and execution.

Give prepared technical presentations, in house and in the field, to assist in marketing and training programs.

Assist Sales and Marketing, as requested, in the development of new markets and new market strategies.

Provide statistical information to maintain a company history of quotations and installed equipment.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
BSME, BSCHE, from four-year college or university or technical degree and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Recent college graduates with internship experience are also encouraged to apply.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Possess excellent technical aptitude with sound design and application knowledge about industrial systems (preferably from the vacuum industry).

Ability to apply engineering concepts, calculate, design, quote and specify vacuum systems.
-
Possess project management capabilities to execute the role of a project leader especially for vacuum system orders serving the industrial market.

Ability to effectively communicate with customers and internal personnel to realize job objectives.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format.

Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Proficiency in using MS Office products.

Familiarity with Solid Works, AutoCAD and ERP software.

Sound knowledge of design criteria.
