Assistant Vice President - Research and Development Summary:
Northern Technologies International Corporation ("NTIC") is a leader in industrial corrosion protection supporting clients in over fifty five countries. This NASDAQ listed company has nine laboratories around the world and aggressive plans for growth (www.ntic.com).
The core corrosion management solution set revolves around the deployment of Vapor/Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors (VCIs) across multiple industries. NTIC has a core competency in client focused R&D and solution development and is hiring a senior-level Corrosion Specialist in its expanding R&D group in Beachwood, Ohio.
Responsibilities of Assistant Vice President - Research and Development Includes:
- The successful applicant will work closely with the New Technologies team, clients and affiliated Universities in the development, study, testing and implementation of new corrosion protection solutions.
- He/she will be responsible for understanding client problems and working with the NTIC technical and client management teams to develop/design, test and/or select the appropriate solution(s).
- Due to the international nature of the client base and the nature of the problems being addressed, the candidate would have to travel to multiple countries and is expected to be out of the country/Beachwood for ~30% to 40% of the time.
- Reporting directly to the Vice President of R&D for "New Technologies", the candidate would help guide and coordinate the work of the NTIC research team
- Work with the NTIC Executive Committee on plans to expand the team and be responsible for the technical and commercial viability of corrosion management solutions developed by the team.

Requirements for Assistant Vice President - Research and Development:
Minimum Requirements:
Prior Educational Experience:
- Master's degree in Electrochemical Engineering (or corrosion related field)
- Preference for a Ph.D. in the field of corrosion protection areas
Prior Work Experience:
- 10+ years experience in the research, design, application and maintenance of corrosion protection systems utilizing electrochemical methods, coatings, inhibitors
- The candidate will have experience in one or more from the following industries - Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical, Transportation
Professional Affiliations:
- NACE Level 3 Certification or higher in any corrosion related discipline
Other:
- History of publications and patents, including papers presented/published at forums like NACE conferences, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team of researchers and global client management teams
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently on international work
- Willingness and ability to relocate to Beachwood, Ohio
