ASSOCIATE DEAN, ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
Broward College (BC) is a large urban institution located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with three main campus locations and five centers, serving approximately 60,000 credit/non-credit students annually. The College was founded in 1959 as the first public higher education institution in Broward County. As the principal provider of undergraduate higher education for Broward County residents, the College is committed to responding to the cultural diversity of the county by providing extensive international and intercultural educational experiences to help students develop multicultural and global perspectives. International affiliations and study abroad opportunities are complimented by a general education “international/ intercultural" curricular requirement for graduation. Job Requirements
The purpose of the job is to serve in a management and leadership capacity reporting to the appropriate Academic Dean or Administrator for the responsibility of overall department operations in accordance with college policies, procedures and contractual agreements, and in support of the overall plan of the college. Employees in this job classification are responsible for the comprehensive coordination and administration of all matters relating to personnel, students, scheduling, curriculum implementation, external agencies, instruction, and all financial considerations relating to the department, and accomplishes such in coordination with the college's mission and college wide goals and campus-based initiatives. Associate Deans provide leadership for all instructional programs which may include all or some of the courses within the associate in arts, associate in science, and associate in applied science degrees as well as vocational and technical certificates. Performs related work as directed.
Minimum Education: Master's Degree in English or higher; or a Master's degree in a closely related field.
Minimum Experience/Training: At least three years in an academic administrative position.
