Job Description

The Associate Manager of Shopper Marketing position is a critical role for DPS as it will contribute to growing DPS sales and profit by supporting the Shopper Marketing Managers in development, execution and analysis of marketing plans for key accounts.

The role demands a results oriented, analytical thinker with strong project management skills. They must bring solution-based thinking, analytical rigor and an extraordinary level of drive to this position. Creative promotion development management is also a key demand of this position.

This individual must proactively identify potential business risks and deliver solutions that will address the business need. They must have a proven track record of results for the business they manage and the ability to analyze results to prove ROI on the projects they lead.

Critical to the success of this role is the partnership they must create with the broader organization. The ability to work with and influence cross-functional partners is critical as this role will interact will various departments in the organization including market research, brand marketing, legal, agencies, category management and sales

  1. Program development and execution
    • Deliver top-notch execution to ensure DPS planning vision is executed effectively
    • Work with shopper marketing manager to lead and develop key account and channel activities to support customer needs
    • Assist manager with the development and execution of the key account planning process
    • Drive decision-making that will lead to program enhancements and process improvements
    • Leverage strong project management discipline to establish planning principles, critical dates and deliverable expectations for key account needs.
    • Seek out ways to increase operating efficiencies with vendor/partner negotiations, effective budget management and ongoing process/tool assessment
  2. Business Integration/Alignment
    • Drive integration and alignment across the business with key stakeholders including brand marketing, sales, market research and agency partners
    • Key interface with internal cross-functional partners (creative, legal, etc..)
    • Maintain and build successful relationships with suppliers/agencies
  3. Analytical Rigor/Post-Analysis/Financial Management
    • Conduct post-launch assessment of all shopper marketing programs to show ROI
    • Proven knowledge and use of syndicated and internal tools that help us assess our business: Nielsen, Case Sales, Key Account segmentation data, etc..
    • Proactively manage shopper marketing dollars and T&E to maximize spend and deliver results
    • Build and manage budgets, identify cost savings and efficiency opportunities and focus spend against value-driving initiatives
    • Focus expenditures against value-driving initiatives, and provide early visibility into budget overages or shortfalls


Job Requirements

  1. Business Experience/Required
    • Four year college degree with business, sales or marketing emphasis preferred
    • 2+ years of agency, selling or marketing experience. Work experience with a cpg company preferred
    • Demonstrated strong analytical and project management skills
    • Strong computer skills with excel and power point
    • Ability to travel when necessary

    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint (strongly preferred)
    • Ability to spot potential issues, develop solutions and drive change

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
