Job Description
Our client is in search of a Microsoft BI Architect that will work on the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) team, and be responsible for working with project managers, business analysts, and users to architect effective solutions to support specific business analysis functions. The architect will work with the Microsoft SQL Server Business Intelligence (version 2008) suite of applications � SSAS, SSRS, SSIS, ProClarity, Excel 2007 Services, Sharepoint, etc. � and be able to construct excellent solutions based on appropriate combinations that are consistent with our existing overall architecture and meet business requirements. Candidate must be highly proficient technically, well organized, and eager to learn new tools and techniques. Candidate must be highly motivated and highly productive.
Specific responsibilities include:
� Participate in the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of Data Marts within the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) environment. � Participate in requirements gathering sessions with the users and Business Analyst to understand business analysis functions to be supported. � Develop prototype cubes and reports quickly with real data, and work with business users to refine their analysis requirements. � Work with BI Analyst to develop Data Mart table designs. � Participate in design walkthroughs to communicate Data Mart table designs to the project team. � Develop Reporting Services reports, Analysis Services cubes, ProClarity views and dashboards, and SSIS packages as required by the project. � Design data transformation processes to load Data Marts on the SQL Server 2008 database platform from DB2/400 on the iSeries. � Develop and document source to target mappings and detailed design of ETL processes. � Develop ETL processes using SSIS packages and Stored Procedures, including robust message and error handling. � Design and develop Analysis Services databases and cubes, optimized for handling large amounts of data efficiently through the use of various techniques, including partitioning, aggregations, attribute hierarchies, and increment load strategies. � Design and develop SSIS packages for handing efficient cube builds and error processing. � Design and develop reports using Reporting Services with various data sources, including cubes, data mart tables, and EDW tables. � Conduct design and code walkthroughs. � Conduct unit tests of ETL processes, cubes, and reports. � Optimize data structures, cube structures, queries, and ETL that may not be performing well.
Preferred Skills:
� Experience developing in SQL Server 2005 or 2008 environment � Experience with Analysis Services OLAP cube development � Experience with Integration Services ETL development � Experience with Reporting Services development � Experience with implementation and support of data warehouse environments � Experience with SQL
