Job Summary: Post Physician/Provider charges into the horizon system for timely payment from insurance companies; research outstanding claims or unpaid private balances; post private payments and work credit allocation report.Essential Duties:1. Price Superbills before entry into the Horizon system. 2. Screen and review Superbills at time of entry for proper completion and accuracy. 3. Return Superbills with errors to appropriate individuals for proper completion. 4. Enter all billing/charge information from the Superbill into Horizon. 5. Enter corrected entries and ensure that batches balance. 6. Print weekly reports as directed, B.O. Report. Mail HCFA's. 7. Identify all missing Superbills to ensure all charges are in system by month end. 8. Update Patient Insurance changes as well as episode maintenance. 9. Attend in-service and other meetings as required. 10. Participate in professional development activities. 11. Maintain patient confidentiality. 12. Perform similar and incidental duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education: - High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- A basic course in medical terminology, medical billing and/or Accounting required. Twelve (12) to eighteen (18) months related medical billing experience may substitute for course requirement.
Experience: - A minimum of two years of data entry in a health care environment or medical office experience required.
- Knowledge of insurance carriers and their requirements for billing, including CPT and diagnosis codes also required.
