Job Description
Regular/Temporary: Regular Essential Duties: This position will focus on processing and validating purchase orders and requests made by Surgery Center physicians and staff.
Enter manual, or hardcopy POs/Requests into appropriate MMIS Communicate with vendors regarding purchasing supplies, equipment and service contracts in accordance with customer policies and procedures in order to ensure accuracy of product, price, and delivery terms. Route orders accordingly for medical supplies, expedite open orders, facilitates product substitutions on back ordered products and verifies pricing against contractual agreements. Process and track of Bill Only/Consignment Orders Receives and reviews purchase requisitions for completeness, contract compliance and conformity to policy and procedures. Responds to end-user requests and confirmation of emergency orders Communicate with a wide variety of customers to identify product availability and substitution options Investigate pricing and back order issues with customers and vendors for resolution. Route messages related shipping discrepancies to appropriate Customer designee Supports product return process by obtaining appropriate documentation for vendor May correspond with suppliers for quotations or formal bids Provide direction and support related to purchasing policies and procedures Troubleshoots complaints by end user departments, and helps facilitate problem resolution Coordinate product recalls Provide certain clerical and administrative functions related to providing phone coverage and filing hard copy documents.
Job Requirements
Good oral and written communication skills Able to use computerized spreadsheets and conduct simple and complex analyses Able to negotiate with suppliers
Required Experience and Education: 2 years college or equivalent work experience in a purchasing department 2 – 3 years previous purchasing experience Computer literate Experience using electronic purchasing systems
