General Summary: The Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of therapeutic and diagnostic cardiopulmonary procedures that are intended to improve the cardiopulmonary status of patients with the use of appropriate equipment and supplies. The Respiratory Therapist is active in unit activities, transdisciplinary team activities, and LifeCare activities to ensure individualized, patient-centered health care for all patient populations admitted to Colorado Acute.
Patient Population: Delivers direct patient care appropriate to the patients served. The ages of the patients served are adult (18-65 years of age) and geriatric (65 and older).
Job Requirements
Experience:
1.One-year experience with at least six months in adult critical care and/or rehabilitation or two years minimum experience with at least one year in adult critical care and/or rehabilitation desired.
Education:
1. Graduate of an AMA approved 1, 2 or 4-year Respiratory Therapy program or completion of an AMA approved program equivalency.
2. Fulfillment of the requirements established by state and/or licensing agency or authority.
Licensure/Certification:
1.Current state license in state where currently practicing. Successful completion of NBRC Registry or Certification exam required.
2. BLS certification
3. ACLS within six months of hire date
4. Current membership in state affiliation desired
5. Current membership in National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) desired
6. Current membership in American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC) desired
