Role Summary/Purpose
The Ceramics & Seals Engineer leads projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business or is a recognized expert in a specialized field. In this role, you will be responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, and will be contributing to the overall strategy and managing complex issues within functional area of expertise.
Essential Responsibilities
Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements
Lead and execute the scale-up of processes for ceramic materials and components from laboratory and pilot levels to manufacturing level
Assure quality control of manufactured components
Recommend approach to meet the technical and program requirements
Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, scheduling, and contract commitments
Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems
Provide technical guidance to other personnel and assigned teams; mentor others in the organization
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments
Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Physics or Chemistry Minimum 5 years of experience in an engineering position with emphasis on the processing and forming of high-temperature ceramics and glasses, and emphasis on the joining and sealing of ceramic-ceramic and metal-ceramic components

Desired Characteristics
Master of Science in materials science & Engineering, Physics or Chemistry Material characterization techniques (SEM, XRD, .etc) Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems Ceramic manufacturing processes (e.g. forming, sintering, Inspection,): Experience with powder processing and high-temperature sintering furnaces Quality control; PC proficiency Backgrounds or experience with metallurgical processes Strong communication skills Strong interpersonal and leadership skills Ability to guide and influence others Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work Green Belt Certification (GE Employees only) Relocation assistance may be offered to the chosen candidate.Why join one great company when you can join many?
