South Texas Blood & Tissue Center
is seeking a

Director of Financial Services 

to provide support for the Financial Services department

at our San Antonio location.

CLOSING DATE: November 23, 2009


Job Summary: 

The Director of Financial Services is responsible for the company’s financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationships with lending institutions and the financial community, the maintenance of its fiscal records and the preparation of financial reports.  The position involves supervision over all financial accounting functions, including but not limited to accounting, payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable.  Responsibilities include the development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.


Responsibilities / Expectations for the Director of Financial Services include:  
  • Responsible for the financial activities of South Texas Blood & Tissue Center and its affiliate organizations, QualTex Laboratories and The Blood &Tissue Center Foundation.
  • Responsible for meeting the financial, tax, and regulatory reporting requirements of each organization accurately and on a timely basis. 
  • Maintains the books and records for South Texas Blood & Tissue Center and its affiliate organizations, QualTex Laboratories and The Blood & Tissue Center Foundation.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and enforcement of proper internal controls and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Responsible for all financial reporting to include but not limited to:  financial performance of the current period compared to prior year and budget, variance analysis, quarterly and annual reporting to the bank for loan compliance, and compliance reporting for grants. 
  • Responsible for the annual budget and other financial forecasts/projections requested from time to time.
  • Responsible for compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable regulations and/or requirements and for the filing of all appropriate tax returns in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the annual financial audit of South Texas Blood & Tissue Center and its affiliates, the audit of the pension plan and any other required audits.
  • Responsible for safeguarding the assets of South Texas Blood & Tissue Center and affiliates.
  • Responsible for maintaining and renewing insurance policies with adequate coverage and filing appropriate claims for the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center and its affiliates. 
  • Responsible for cash management to ensure that adequate cash is readily available to meet financial obligations.
  • Oversee the investment portfolio in accordance with the investment policy and recommend changes when necessary.
  • Responsible for the financial analyses of business opportunities.


Schedule: Monday â€" Friday 8:00 a.m. â€" 5:00 p.m.

Job Requirements


Requirements of the Director of Financial Services include:

 

Education / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • Master’s Degree preferred

Knowledge / Experience:

  • Eight years Financial Management experience required
  • Three years Financial Healthcare experience required
  • Experience with performing Financial Analyses required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial reporting systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Three years driving experience with good driving record required
  • Must be proficient in all aspects of accounting and business economics. 

  • Must possess the analytical skills and judgment necessary to effectively interpret economic trends affecting the organization.

Licensure / Certifications:

  • CPA required
  • MBA preferred
  • Texas Driver's License
