Location:
The community is alive with a variety of activities and accommodations. Whether it's fishing, kayaking, bear viewing, shopping, dining or sight-seeing there is a lot to make your Alaskan experience unique. This seaside community has 13000 residents and another. This town offers all the amenities of a small, first class city, including our hospital, medical clinics, pharmacies, police and fire departments, and a U.S. Coast Guard cutter for safety at sea. Local, state and federal government offices operate here, as does a college.
Outdoor activities are in abundance, with over 30 miles of trail and 375,000 acres of wilderness, provides excellent back-country hiking, camping, wildlife viewing, lake & stream fishing, and cabin rentals.
The Company:
This state-of-the-art hospital is licensed for 22 medical beds and 28 nursing home beds. Currently a Critical Access Facility, the campus also includes a 25 bed Long Term Care facility.
The hospital is governed by a nine member Board of Directors. An elected Service Area Board provides public recommendation on capital spending and scope of services. The hospital employees over 300 local residents, and is the area’s largest employer, contributing over $12,000,000 annually to the local economy in payroll alone.

Responsibilities
The Chief Financial Officer provides leadership, direction and administration of all financial systems of the hospital and nursing home and the activities of other related corporate entities.
You will:
- Promote the accomplishment of the hospital's mission, vision, and goals by providing accounting and finance information to assist the CEO and Board to make sound decisions and plan for the future.
- Maintain the adequacy of the hospital's financial systems through auditing and monitoring techniques; and develop and implement policies and systems needed to ensure appropriate financial management and accountability.
- Encourage the integration of the hospital's financial and clinical systems by using effective communication and interaction with the clinical managers.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Finance Director and staff to ensure proper management of the hospital's Service Area Funds.
- Be an effective communicator, to assist line managers in budgeting, cost analysis, and financial planning.
- Work directly with a Senior Management Team comprised of 5 key hospital leaders, and another 25 â€" 30 line managers.
- You will report to the CEO and the Board of Directors for the hospital.
In the absence of the CEO, the CFO will be acting Administrator.
Job Requirements
Requirements necessary for ideal candidate
- You must have at least 5 years experience working in a non-profit, acute care facility, in healthcare finance at the Management Level, with a preference for Candidates that have worked with Critical Access Hospitals.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – Preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple, diverse projects and events simultaneously
- Experience working with healthcare unions.
- Strong financial analysis background.
- Experience working with strategic plans.
- Experience establishing and maintaining physician relationships.
