JOB PURPOSE
Operate and set up standard or CNC lathe and/or mill machining, cleaning and scribing parts per prints. May perform related repairs or modification of machine parts. Will use precision measuring equipment to ensure components are machined to specific tolerances and surface finishes as indicated in drawings. Routine preventative maintenance on equipment. Maintain product SPC charts.
SCOPE
This is a mid-level, non-exempt position in manufacturing that performs machining to specifications of the product on hand.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position typically reports to a manufacturing supervisor or team leader. WORKING CONDITIONS In addition to being able to sit, stand, walk, read, talk, and hear, to perform the essential functions of this job an individual must be able to do the following additional activities: Operate machinery and stand for extended periods; occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Set up machines as per daily work instructions 2. Create/Edit work instructions and standard operating procedures. 2. Follow required procedures during in process machining. 3. Verify and document in process work orders. 4. Monitor the machining of various tools 5. Design and make small fixtures. 6. Job Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three to five years experience and/or training. Machining Degree from a technical school is a plus. Candidate must possess proficiency in the use of all common machine shop equipment tools and measuring devices, the ability to interpret basic drawings and work instructions, knowledge of various machining methods and proper cutting tools for different kinds of metals. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and understand CNC G-code. Basic computer skills and knowledge of SPC a plus. Preferred knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Fanuc Mazak and Mori-Seiki Controls. Experience with LeBlond Horizontal mill with pallet changer and Mazac Vertical mill a plus. Individual should have a strong attitude towards machining and personal safety.
