Job Description

SUMMARY:       Design and execute launch and subsequent support plan for assigned product lines.  Responsible to coordinate efforts with the operations, engineering, central station, and sales organizations to ensure that all necessary resources and support are available in order to reach assigned sales goals.  Schedule and coordinate training and transitional events with departments as required. Provide quantifiable indication of training and skill levels for both sale and operational teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  To perform this job successfully, the Commercial Product Manager may be expected to perform some or all of the duties listed.

• Effectively create sales opportunities through the introduction of new products as well the facilitation of changes to existing products.

• Exhibit superlative understanding of assigned product lines in the areas of both existing products and emerging technology.

• Regularly communicate with the Operations and Engineering team on new products and service as well as on changes needed or being implemented for existing products and services.

• Good working knowledge and use of security Industry operations.

  Solid understanding of equipment used by customers, and field technicians.

• Responsible to integrate new customers, (those not created internally), into Company core business processes.

• Must be able to interface with a variety of people, equipment, software, and business types to accomplish project teamwork.

• Design and implement support structure for new and existing product.  This includes identification of necessary changes to systems/business processes (including Sales Central, Mastermind, Commission software, etc) and project managing the implementation of those changes.

• Define and provide input on sales goals and market size.

• Effectively introduce new sales products and changes to sales products to the field.

  Must be adaptive and savvy in, security equipment, central station receiving equipment, emergency power systems, monitoring software, programming software, internal navigation, e-mail, and desktop application navigation of PC software as well as versed in electrical principles and test equipment, Security System design, application, and use in commercial locations is considered rudimentary for this job function.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge

• Knowledge of and a proficiency in using Computer and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook), and Internet.

• Knowledge of Company policies, procedures, guidelines, and practices.

Skills

• Must be skilled in installation, repair, operation, communication and programming of Security Systems.

• Must be skilled in communication with others both orally and written.

• Must be skilled in electrical/electronic principles and fundamental operating parameters.

Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and arms; speak and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and three to four years previous experience in similar positions.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Technical certificate relevant to the product(s) to be managed preferred.
