Composite Technology, Inc. (CTI) a newly acquired subsidiary of Helicopter Support, Inc. is a specialist in bonded structure repairs for rotorcraft operating in five countries. World headquarters is in Grapevine, TX where technical management, facility oversight and accounting are centralized. This position will be located in Texas. Helicopter Support, Inc. (HSI) is a helicopter logistic support company with over 800 customers worldwide. As a Sikorsky company, HSI provides complete factory authorized services for Sikorsky Aircraft's S-61, S-70, S-76 and S-92 helicopters. HSI is based in Trumbull, Connecticut, USA. Description: Applies basic and some advanced technical skills and knowledge to fabricate, rework and repair metallic or nonmetallic bonded parts for operational aircraft applications. Performs any of the detailed work operations required to be completed in this area of specialization.
Performs bonding of metallic or nonmetallic materials to fabricate parts and/or for repair applications using products and processes which are varied but generally not complex in scope. The level of work performed requires some skill and experience. Works under regular supervision applying standard procedures and solutions to meet work requirements. Priorities are determined by management. Must read and interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, specifications sketches, job orders, planning documents and engineering drawings. Determines equipment requirements and the method and sequences of operation to be followed in fabrication of parts using materials such as graphite, fiberglass, plastic, boron, flock, at, epoxy resins, rubber and like materials.
Plans, layout, fabricates and builds adhesive bonded assemblies of metallic and non metallic composite materials. Fabricates composite and metal parts into subassemblies for the purpose of pre-fitting in preparation for bonding or curing in presses, ovens, and autoclaves.
Lay out, pre-fits, assembles and performs lay-up on a variety of metal to metal and composite bonded assemblies. Fits core in where close tolerances are required for installation of details for completion of assembly. Performs vacuum bagging. Layout and marks dimensions and reference lines on material to develop and trace patterns of product or parts, or uses templates.
Selects tooling and materials compatible with the processing techniques identified in the work instructions.
Job Requirements
High School Diploma or GED equivalent 6+ years experience in Composites
Inspection Authority
FAA Certified Repairman or Airframe Mechanic
Trained/capable on all products
Ability to read and implement instructions from OEM drawings
Ability to administer OJT (on the job training)
