Job Description

Controller - Healthcare

Exciting role for a professional wanting to join a national growing health care organization. Role offers challenge and opportunity for advancement.

 

This position is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results.

 

RESPONSIBLITIES

 

  • Manages the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, cost accounting, etc.
  • Develops, improves and issues timely monthly financial records
  • Interfaces with outside audit firms(s), banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agent(s), credit card companies, etc.
  • Safeguards assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal controls across departments
  • Provides a visionary and leadership implementation role on behalf of Finance and Accounting
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
  • Research accounting issues and their implication on the business.
  • Establishes and implements short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Designs, establishes and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department's goals and objectives.
  • Participate in finance and accounting process improvement projects.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

 


Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • Minimum six years  of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.
  • Healthcare or related experience.
  • Requires knowledge of principles of financial management sufficient to direct professional staff and the ability to develop annual budgets, analyze financial data and patterns and prepare financial statements.
  • Must be familiar with healthcare-related terms and the various components of managed care.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred.
  • Former public accounting experience preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
