Cord Blood Laboratory Specialist
South Texas Blood & Tissue Center is seeking a
Cord Blood Laboratory Specialist
to provide support for the Cord Blood department
in the Dallas area.
CLOSING DATE: November 23, 2009
Job Summary: Responsible for the daily administration and support of the Cord Blood Hospital Collection Process, Autologous Cord Blood Program, and distribution of cord blood units for transplantation.
Responsibilities / Expectations of Cord Blood Laboratory Specialist include:
- Daily interface with collection facilities on cord blood deferrals and other discrepancies.
- Monthly measurement of collection facility.
- Pick-up and transportation of collected cord blood.
- Coordinate Autologous Cord Blood program.
- Responsible for web-based competency management.
- Responsible for distribution of cord blood units.
- Utilize the data management system.
- Maintain adequate level of disposable supplies for hospital coordinators.
- Maintain annual training competencies for cord blood collections.
- Assist with the development of cord blood processing procedures according to the AATB, AABB, FACHT, ISO, FDA, and GMP standards.
- Maintain a close working relationship with the appropriate departmental staff and management keeping him/her informed on issues pertaining to CBU collections.
- May perform other tasks as assigned.
