Job Description

Data Analyst

Purpose of Position:

• This position is responsible for ongoing analysis of our several travel business operations using data obtained from a variety of sources, including travel agency information, supplier data and many sources of internally generated statistics.
• It involves development and preparation of databases and reports for various internal staff.
• It requires the ability to analyze data from conceptualization through presentation of the data.
• It requires proficiency with analytical tools (SQL, Excel), knowledge of data analysis methodology, use of presentation software, strong communication skills and a strong commitment to and affinity for delivering the highest level of customer service

• Develop methodologies, databases and content for analyzing and presenting data.
• Perform complex data analysis and generate reports in support of ad-hoc and standing customer requests.
• Use and support database applications and analytical tools to evaluate data quality, applications and functions.
• Participate in new product development in regards to data sources and analytical tools; contribute to new product development and improvement in product delivery and presentation.
• Contribute to team effort.
• Provide high level of customer service.

Job Requirements

• Demonstrated experience and expertise with SQL programming language required.
• Demonstrated experience using advanced Excel features and techniques required.
• Demonstrated experience using advanced Crystal report features and techniques required.
• Demonstrated experience in analysis and presentation of data required.
• Experience working with a variety of information systems and data files, including large and complex files: analyzing file structure, using and creating file layouts, transforming raw data into finished products.
• Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Comfortable working independently, with experience working in a team environment.
• Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with members and staff.
• Physical ability to use computer hardware and software required.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English required.

Educational, Experience and/or Licensing Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in relevant field.
• Undergraduate or graduate coursework in statistics, data analysis, research methods.
• 2-5 years experience in data analysis, decision support, including demonstrated proficiency with analytical software.

Job Conditions

• Position requires working in an office environment and with usual office equipment including computers, copiers and fax machines.
• Reports to: Sr. Vice President of Information Technology
