Job Summary:
   

This individual leads the database design effort as a part of the overall effort to create a single integrated product for all clients that meets the company core business system requirements and objectives.  The Database Architect will be responsible for providing expertise in SQL Database design, process and development to set the strategy and standards for programming, security, and operations for the company*s database systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participate as part of the architecture and design team organized to evaluate core business systems and requirements then architect a new integrated solution to support them
• Review current SQL database structure and methodology, working closely with Production DBA, Web Architect, Programmers and DBA staff
• Research and evaluate current programming standards and quality of the code in order to actively participate in the decisions to replace, enhance, and improve them for future development efforts
• Identify new database technologies as candidates for consideration and use in future database operations and standards
• Set standards for physical and logical database schema and table design
• Gather new requirements and lead design meetings
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Project Managers, and other key personnel to design and deliver reports, data, and analytics solutions
• Conduct meetings to review project progress and benchmarks
• Design and Development of Production Database and Data Warehousing components (e.g., tool integration, ETL strategy, analytics delivery, data integrity strategy, performance)

   

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Expert knowledge of database design standards, modeling techniques, and tools
• Has excellent command of languages/platforms, especially  SQL 2005/2008 databases
• Proven ability to provide expert database design and architecture for RDBMS and OLAP data environments
• Demonstrated programming, design, and system analysis skills
• Excellent written and oral communication and problem solving skills
• Ability to review current database standards and processes and recommend solutions
• Capacity planning capability and benchmarking plans
• Oversight of tool evaluation and selection
• Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision
• Takes ownership of tasks and sees them through to completion
•  Possess high level of collaboration skills with internal peers Ability to validate documented database designs

Credentials and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field preferred
• Minimum of ten years database design/architecture in large-scale data environments required; design experience in a large *enterprise* scale is preferred.
• Experience in labor market or regulatory occupation industries preferred
