The Time Warner Cable Northeast/National region currently seeks Digital System Administrators for our Engineering Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.1st & 3rd Shift Positions AvailablePosition SummaryThis position will be expected to be responsible for the care and maintenance of the production and lab infrastructure specifically related Scientific Atlanta DBDS equipment, including DNCS, Mystro (MDN/ODN).Essential Job Functions: Support, test, troubleshoot, configure and provide resolution on DBDS related issues General support of the BMS systems, VOD systems, SDV systems, settop client software, IP networks, and linux/solaris platforms. Support the Digital Broadband Delivery System and conduct daily administrative duties. Support the installation and configuration of various client versions including SARA and Mystro’s MDN/ODN resident applications. Troubleshoot and identify problems related to the Digital Broadband Delivery System (DBDS. Analyze problems and recommend the best solution or corrective action. Support the installation and configuration of third party applications such as Navic. Provide technical knowledge and support to internal teams about set top client and ISA implementation issues. Provide technical departmental customer support in a positive, courteous and professional manner. Work jointly with Vendors and ATG to identify and isolate any system fault. Perform channel lineup maintenance, routine system operations, and diagnostic test to identify/isolate any system faults. Define and maintain VOD schedules as well as Special Event programming schedules. Document system problems, escalate and take appropriate actions according to departmental procedures. Job Requirements: Extended and flexible work schedule is a requirement of the job. On-Call on rotating basis during weekend and holidays. Experience supporting production systems within a 24x7 operations environment supporting SA headends, VOD installations and managing settop boxes. Knowledge on staging process for Digital Home Communication Terminals (DHCT) for use in the Digital Broadband Delivery System. Must have experience troubleshooting complex systems using various tools, network management systems and error reporting systems to determine and resolve problems. Must have knowledge of UNIX, Linux and Windows operating system. Must have experience with the development of test procedures and backup/recovery tools. Experience with CSG, and ICOMS is desirable. Requires good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment and to demonstrate good logical problem assessment and solving skills. Must be able to both work well within a team but also show individuals assertiveness in finding/solving problems. Ability to handle several tasks, organize, document, make decisions, and work efficiently and effectively under deadlines. Will be working in a typical office environment using standard office equipment, including a personal computer. Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree with a concentration in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience of five to seven years of headend tech experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2+ years of system related studies or equivalent a must. Travel Requirements: Travel up to 5% of the time or more may be required.Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities: No Supervisory responsibilities with this position.
