JOB OPENING: News Director Date Position Available: October 8, 2009 Tribune TV station (WSFL) and newspaper (Sun Sentinel) are working together to produce great television in a revolutionary new way for the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale market. We are looking for the next News Director who can take our vision and âknock it out of the parkâ. The WSFL 4-hour morningshow is housed inside the Sun Sentinel newspaper. We use experienced TV and print journalists from the Sun Sentinel every day to cover the news that matters in South Florida. Can you help elevate this new business model for television news? Are you a dynamic leader with a desire to win? If so, we want to hear from you. Our next News Director will be responsible for directing daily news coverage, reporters and photographers and daily editorial meetings. Responsible for communicating a code of conduct to all news personnel, critiquing newscast daily, making changes to the format when necessary and ensuring adherence to station, corporate and governmental policies and rules. Other responsibilities include: participating in community service activities, keeping spending under control without hampering the news departmentâs ability to cover news and overseeing scheduling. Job Requirements
A minimum of 5 years experience as a television news director or 5yrs newsroom management experience in a medium to large market is required.
