Job Description
The Director Compensation will be a business partner and primary resource in the design, development and administration of compensation programs, polices and processes. Continuously monitors marketplace to ensure that Safe Horizon compensation programs are competitive and appropriate. Provide in house expertise and consultation to management and employees regarding benefit and compensation policies, practices and interpretation.
Essential Job Functions:
· Provides review and analysis of existing and proposed compensation programs for effectiveness and cost management, makes recommendations for program changes as needed.
· Develops, implements and maintains compensation programs, policies and procedures.
· Conducts job evaluations to recommend equitable compensation and correct classifications for new hires and current employees.
· Reviews new or revised jobs to determine appropriate salary grade assignment and FLSA status.
· Conducts periodic evaluation of compensation program to ensure accuracy and market place competitiveness.
· Ensures compliance with Federal, state and local laws and regulations regarding compensation programs
· Ensures proper training, marketing and communication for employees, managers and executives on all compensation programs and policies.
· Manages relationships with third party administrators and vendors, which include compensation consultants, organizations conducting salary surveys.
· Conducts total reward surveys and monitor trends. Recommends new or modified employee programs, answer inquire and present proposals as required.
· Develops and maintains a strong customer relations environment and provides consultive services to employees on compensation
· Provides employee relations support to assigned business units.
Secondary Job Functions:
· Oversees the administration of all compensation plans
· Coordinates employee communication programs pertaining to program changes, required legal notification and policy manual updates.
· Oversees employee benefits programs as needed
· Oversees open enrollment and rate change process
· Supports HRIS in ensuring accuracy of salary structure, job code information and regulatory reporting.
Job Requirements
Required skills:
· Five years progressive experience in the design, development and administration of compensation and benefit programs (including voluntary and involuntary programs)
· Current on Federal and state regulations and laws including a detail understanding of FLSA and ERISA
· Ability to conduct salary surveys and construct salary grades to reflect survey data and Safe Horizon compensation philosophy.
· Advance knowledge and proficiency in software applications, including Microsoft Office and database applications.
· Excellent problem-solving, judgment and decision making skills
· Analytical skills and Excel proficiency
Qualifications:
· Experience working with vendors and carriers
· Bachelor’s degree in business administration or human resources required, Certified Compensation Professional preferred, advance degree a plus.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated proficiency in written communication; large group presentation; and interaction with senior leadership.
