BASF, "The Chemical Company" is seeking candidates for a Texas Hub EHS Team Leader position.  This leadership position will be located in Port Arthur, TX, will oversee approximately 9 EHS Professionals and will involve overall management of the EHS programs at the Port Arthur and Beaumont, Texas Sites.  
 
1.       Provide leadership and direct support to coordinate and implement EHS programs, projects and other compliance activities at the Port Arthur and Beaumont Sites under the direction of the Hub Manager.
2.       Provide EHS support for manufacturing sites as outlined in Service Level Agreement and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
3.       Serve as the primary EHS representative on both the Beaumont and Port Arthur Site Leadership Teams.
4.       Facilitate the sharing of programs, procedures, tools, and successfully demonstrated practices within the Hub, and across BASF's North America Region.
5.       Coordinate with the BASF's Centers of Expertise on development of processes and initiatives to ensure continuous improvement in EHS.
6.       Lead / support efforts to optimize effectiveness and efficiency of EHS programs.
7.       Support implementation of Responsible Care© Management Systems, including BASF standardized EHS processes.
8.       Implement systems to identify and monitor key performance indicators within area of responsibility and adjust resources and programs as needed to improve EHS performance.
9.       Supervise and lead EHS staff to meet EHS performance goals within area of responsibilities; participate in assessing staff performance and in fostering their professional development.
10.   Assist Hub Manager in the development of effective working relationships with Site Management and employees, EHS Community, Manufacturing, Engineering, Legal, and EHS regulatory agencies.
11.   Interface with regulatory agencies and third parties, as needed, on compliance and enforcement issues.
12.   Develop strategies and programs targeted at continued and substantial improvement in EHS performance and compliance.
 


Job Requirements

1.       Degree in Engineering or Science is preferred.  Extensive experience in manufacturing or EHS considered.
2.       Must have strong leadership skills and the ability to deal with crisis and emergency situations.
3.       EHS regulatory and technical expertise in the area of occupational and process safety and environmental desired.  Knowledge of Texas environmental requirements would be a strong plus.
4.       Proven experience in implementation of EHS programs in a petrochemical or refining manufacturing environment required.
5.       Excellent skills related to written/verbal communication, team leadership, coaching, entrepreneurship, results orientation, strategic thinking, and influencing/persuasiveness.
6.       Ability to effectively interact with and influence all levels and functions within BASF, elected officials and regulatory agencies, non-governmental organizations, and community leaders / representatives.
7.       Previous supervisory experience would be a strong plus.
