We are looking for an Employee Relations Manager at our Lafayette Operations Extrusion facility; located 55 miles NW of Indianapolis, IN. Lafayette is a producer of extruded aluminum products, which supplies markets in aerospace, automotive, and defense industries.The position reports to the Human Resources Manager.Ths is a significant opportunity to impact the Lafayette facility by leading critical HR strategies and implementing employee relations approaches to help achieve the goals of the operation. Major areas of focus include, but are not limited to: *Partnering with the Department/Area Managers to achieve their strategic and tactical plans while developing and executing complementary people plans and labor relations strategy within applicable labor agreements as well as State/Federal laws. *Providing overall leadership to key Human Resources related initiatives impacting the entire plant including deploying sound employee relations practices across the operation. Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business discipline, i.e. human resources, labor relations, etc., with 8-10 years of HR experience in an industrial environment including 5 years of labor relations experience. Demonstrated working knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, including but not limited to, EEO, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, Title VII and FMLA. Ability to translate legal/labor law, contract, policies in order to coach managers in resolving day-to-day issues. Experienced and accomplished at improving business results through contract administration. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, yet self-starting and results-oriented. Proven experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with multiple levels of the organization. Solid consultative skills, relationship building, problem solving, and coaching. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated change leadership. Ability to identify the “big picture” and set strategy yet extrapolates to the tactical. Detail-oriented with very strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Proven leadership and demonstrated knowledge, skill and experience in contract language/negotiations, arbitration, grievance, employment/labor law. Experience working in organizations of 1,000 or more desired.Preferred Qualifications Ability to translate business strategy into HR strategy.
