Job Description

Bridges of America is currently looking for an Employment Specialist to work at our Pompano Beach Work Release facility. 

Bridges of America has a long and successful history of trustworthy service to the State of Florida.  There has been a sound, mutually-rewarding working relationship between the Bridge rehabilitation programs and the Florida Department of Corrections since 1976.  Bridges of America offers a number of services including, but not limited to, drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation, Transitional Living and Work Release.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (partial list):

1.            Through public relations develop new job contacts for inmate employment.

2.            Oversee and audit inmate employment files.

3.            Update employment information to data entry on a weekly basis.

4.            Conduct Job Readiness and Job Coping classes, including ED Preview.

5.            Coordinate inmate transportation schedules.

6.            Attend department head meetings and clinical staff meetings.

7.            Monitor inmate work schedules, promotions, and salaries.

8.            Conduct on-site visits to inmate employers at least once per month.

9.            Monitor inmate job interviews and job searches.

10.        Develop and maintain an accurate and current job bank.

11.        Verify inmate employment prior to allowing inmate to work on site.

12.        Ensure the Community Work Agreement form is completed by the employer.

13.        Complete on site visit within five (5) days of inmate’s employment with a company.

14.        Conduct bicycle safety training with inmates.

Job Requirements

Full time, 40 hours per week.  Prefer 1 year of experience with criminal justice clients.  Must have at least 1 year experience in Human Resources, job placement or public relations required.  Bachelor degree in a related field preferred (education and experience may be substituted for each other on a year-by-year basis). 

Required Skills:   Be able to develop contacts with employers in the community in order to gain employment for clients.   Be able to assist clients in the proper way to appear and conduct an interview with a potential employer.
