We are currently seeking a Executive Director Finance inHarland Clarke's Marketing Services Division. This position can be based out of Harland Clarke's Regional Corporate Office in Decatur, Georgia, or the Glen Burnie, Maryland office. Position Summary
Oversees strategic budgeting, financial/operational reporting and analysis, financial planning, and competitive analysis for Marketing Services. Provides Marketing Services Sr Leadership with strategic planning activities and initiatives by providing timely, relevant and accurate information to support decision making.
Key Duties / Responsibilities
Essential duties are identified by asterisks.
Responsible for leading month end closing process for Marketing Services including review of financial statements, investigation of unusual trends or variances for follow-up and resolution. Coordinating internal resources, managing external vendors(where applicable), preparing and delivering final reports/presentations.
Preparing management reports and presentations to facilitate decision making. Managing multiple projects with a focus on providing actionable intelligence for business decision makers. Lead finance team for Marketing Services in consistent application of Company financial policies and procedures, providing guidance, direction and problem resolution in their implementation. Recommends specific, appropriate corrective actions where necessary. ( 40 %)
Accountable for analysis and reporting of Marketing Services results as compared to budget updates and prior year, including analysis of the impact of volume changes, cost reduction programs and product mix changes on results. Recommends specific appropriate corrective actions where necessary. Proactively assists in identifying opportunities for operational improvements and cost reductions; measures whether programs are achieving expected results.( 20%)
Provide financial modeling and business and marketing analysis for long-range and annual strategic and financial planning including developing annual business plans, monitoring implementation of strategic plans, identifying economic trends, and planning for capital expenditures. Provide input, guidance and direction to the budgetary, strategic and operational planning processes. Work directly and effectively with other business units’ leaders to ensure enterprise wide business integration, and coordination. As appropriate, participate in committees and task forces as designated by the VP of FP&A and SVP Marketing Services. ( 15 %)
Responsible for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and implementation of financial controls. ( 10 %)
Recruits, evaluates, develops, and motivates financial personnel who contribute to the company's short-term success and enable the company to achieve long-term objectives and strategic plans. (10 %)
Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor or his/her designee. ( 5 %)
Education & Knowledge Required
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in business, finance or accounting from four-year college or university. Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent preferred. A minimum of 10 years experience in a financial or business strategy role with 3-5 years experience in a leadership role.
Experience / Skills / Abilities Required
Strong financial modeling and analysis skills, excellent communication abilities required.
Prior experience in financial planning and analysis, operational finance, marketing, general management and strategic planning is preferred.
Experience in evaluating capital investment projects and acquisitions.
Excellent financial system skills required, financial systems development experience a plus (e.g. SAP, Essbase, Hyperion).
Experience operating in a complex, matrix management environment.
Extensive experience with the development and implementation of projects involving multiple and complex data sets. Demonstrated ability to build and execute financial and strategic plans across a geographically dispersed organization.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has supervisory responsibility for Marketing Services Finance team. Must have a proven record of strong leadership, mentorship, and influencing skills. Possessing strong emotional intelligence/maturity.
Communication & Contacts Required
Outstanding communications and presentation skills, including comfort with very senior and/or large audiences. This position reports to the VP, FP&A/Budgeting & Reporting and requires the ability to work closely with senior management enterprise wide.
Decision Making
As finance champion, involved with identifying and resolving all issues of a financial nature impacting the
company. Daily responsibilities such as strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analytical
reporting require problem solving skills obtained through specialized education and experience.
