National Interstate Insurance Company wants you to add your vision and drive to our team!   Due to growth, we’re currently seeking a local Field Marketing Representative within our Southern California territory to support our Personal Lines and Commercial Vehicle products. Ideally someone based out of the greater Los Angeles area.  Territory coverage expected to include Counties: LA, Orange, Ventura, and San Diego, including the Cities: LA, Pasadena, West Covina, Anaheim, Long Beach, and Huntington Beach, and Ventura. 

 

Summary

Successfully manage our independent agent network in Southern California consisting of retail and wholesale agencies. National Interstate is an A-rated, admitted carrier offering products that are highly competitive in terms of price, coverage and payment options, and breadth of acceptable risks. We are committed to the independent agent channel and focus on ease of use. The individual will capitalize on our strong footing in Southern California and help us meet our growth goals in this market.

 

Main responsibilities include:

  • Grow NATL’s market share through independent agents by recruiting independent agents, developing relationships with existing agents, selling the benefits of NATL’s programs, and training them on our products and technology
  • Assist with the management of strategic business partners such as wholesale General Agencies. This includes educating their underwriters, training their field marketing teams, and working with their management team to maintain a profitable and growing book of business with NATL.
  • Strategically plan territory routes to maximize sales outcomes
  • Assist with the construction of direct mail and email marketing campaigns
  • Effectively communicate with all team members to meet objectives

·         Provide agent feedback to our product managers and work in a team environment to enhance our products. Act as a liaison between the agent and the company, as well as resolve agent issues

  • Monitor products, distribution, services, and pricing of NATL versus our competitors; maintain competitive information to maximize NATL’s position in the marketplace
  • Travel requirements- manageable overnights; company vehicle provided

Job Requirements

Qualifications we’re looking for:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years recent outside business-to-business sales experience working with current California Independent Agents and brokers, including Personal Lines products
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple strategic priorities and execute routine territory management and sales responsibilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels both internally and externally
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Strong PC software competency, including word processing and spreadsheets, and ability to learn current computer systems and programs
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time
