INTERESTED in LEARNING A NEW LINE of LIABILITY CLAIMS? Major NYC P&C insurer is seeking an experienced GL Rep to cross train in Marine Liability claims for national marinas, boat dealerships and marine repair facilities. Responsible for determining coverage, damages and liability of moderate to highly complex Ocean Marine claims and to settle claims within the prescribed authority. Verifies policy coverage as applicable to the specific loss. Identifies specific reinsurance treaties, when applicable. Investigates claims to determine coverage liability and damages. Obtains recorded statements and/or signed statements. Secures police reports and elevates investigations at a higher level of expertise, as needed. Determines, verifies, evaluates and controls damages, injuries and expenses. Leads litigation defense and directs and controls counsel. Able to instruct, monitor and work with outside adjusters and vendors. Maintains clear and proper notes documenting the claim activity. Maintains effective and orderly files and diary. Communicates loss prevention and/or any other specific claim problems to the appropriate underwriting personnel. Sets reserves or recommends reserves when in excess of their authority. Able to do air travel as needed. May assist in the supervision and training of less experienced claims personnel. Performs other duties as needed.

Job Requirements
Bachelors Degree with and at least 3-5 years of specialized GL/BI claims handling. Any knowledge of Marine claims is a plus, but not necessary. Must have the ability to lead litigation defense and direct and control defense counsel. Specific knowledge and experience in Ocean Marine, Inland Marine adjusting, Ocean Cargo, Hull, Protection and Indemnity, and Admiralty Law. Must have the ability to lead litigation defense and direct and control counsel. Must have general knowledge of contracts, finance, and foreign commerce. Knowledge of diversified types of business and commodities and the ability to analyze highly complex problems of each. Must be a decision maker, negotiator, strong communicator and be intuitive. PC/computer skills are necessary.
