Chamberlin Edmonds works as an augmentation to existing hospital staff to assist uninsured patients through the difficult processes of applying for medical assistance. Chamberlin Edmonds relieves patients and hospital staff from the confusion and frustration of the application process.
Chamberlin Edmonds’ professionals are trained to recognize the obscure cases that are frequently overlooked and may not appear to fall under most eligibility guidelines. Our unique expertise enables us to obtain short-term funding solutions and, wherever appropriate, to secure long-term Medicare conversions for patients. Our Health Care Representatives evaluate many factors other than financial criteria in their decision making process, such as the patient’s mental and physical limitations, gender, age, living conditions, work history and education. All of these factors have a bearing on revenue recovery success. We routinely make applications for the following programs:

This exciting position is based in an area hospital and the duties include:
•Screening patient referrals
•Reviewing patient hospital charts
•Interviewing patients on the phone after discharge and face-to-face while still in the hospital
•Completing applications, by hand and on computer, for state and federal programs
•Assisting and assessing the needs of the patient and hospital to ensure that referrals are resolved timely and appropriately
•Providing updates and assistance to hospital personnel and other staff as needed
•Maintaining documentation in both hospital computer and company database
Job Requirements
•Associates Degree
•Ability to apply knowledge of federal and state programs to benefit coverage for the client
•Knowledge of state Medicaid (AFDC, WV-Chip, M-WIN, ABD) and/or federal SSI/SSDI disability application programs and processes
•Understanding of and ability to apply the medical definition of Disability as it relates to the body systems and functions of daily living
•Ability to read and apply the information contained in medical records
•Strong and demonstrated communication skills (verbal and written)
•Demonstrated experience working with people of various socioeconomic and educational backgrounds
•Strong organizational skills
•Proficient computer skills in Microsoft products: Outlook, Word and Excel
•Reliable transportation
Preferred:
•Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Nursing or Social Work
•Previous experience in a hospital environment (RN, Admissions, Financial Counseling, Utilization Review)
•Experience communicating with government case workers and/or hospital personnel
•Ability to read, speak and write both English and Spanish fluently
•Previous experience working with the Social Security Administration (SSA) Disability Determination Services (DDS) and/or the Department of Health and Human Resources
