Job Requirements
Job Description The Nutrition Services Clerk is responsible for essential clerical duties associated with the nutritional care and food service to patients; by insuring patients receive food as ordered by their Physician and/or Dietitian. The position ensures patient menus are filled out properly by patient and expedites and ensures correct assembly of patient food trays.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
License or Certification:
Food Handlers course as required by state or county
Total Education, Vocational Training and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum one-year experience as a Diet Clerk in an acute care facility preferred.
Communicates effectively in both writing and verbally.
Machines, Equipment Used:
General office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, computer, Calculator, steam tables.
Physical Requirements:
Good visual acuity and ability to speak and hear.
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl.
Ability to reach, grasp, use fine finger movement and feel fine sensation to discern temperature, texture, size and shape.
Sufficient mobility and dexterity of both arms and hands to safely arrange, check and load patient trays in food carts.
Must be able to work with light to moderate supervision.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English.
Sit, stand, walk climb, turn, lift, stoops, bend, reach, grasp, use eye-hand coordination, push, pull, carry, see, detect, organize, coordinate, plan, instruct, observe, evaluate, select.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Environmental Conditions:
Clerical work is performed indoor, temperature controlled, smoke-free environment. Patient contact work is performed on nursing unit and/or in patient's room. All other work performed in kitchen environment. Will be required to lift weights and carry equipment and supplies.
May be exposed to hazardous cleaning chemicals.
Exposure to high and low temperature extremes and exposed to extremely hot kitchen equipment.
No exposure anticipated in normal routine of job. However, exposure may occur if emergency is encountered
Handicapped accessibility.
May work under stressful circumstances at times.
Proficiency or Productivity Standards:
Will be required to work weekdays, weeknights and/or weekends on scheduled shift.
Will be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts.
May be required to work as necessary during disaster situations, i.e. before, during or after a hurricane.
May be required to stay after workday to assist after a disaster situation until relief arrives.
Regular attendance and reporting on time to work is a requirement of position.
