Job Requirements
Job Description The Nutrition Services Manager plans, directs and coordinates the activities of the Food Service Department to provide dietetic services to patients as well as employees and guests. The position establishes policies and procedures to provide administrative direction for cafeteria menu information, food preparation, distribution and service, budgeting, purchasing, sanitation standards, safety practices, staffing and staff development. In addition, the Manager may assist dietician with nutrition assessments as needed.
The Manager is responsible for helping to create an environment and culture that enables the hospital to fulfill its mission by meeting or exceeding its goals, conveying the hospital mission to all staff, holding staff accountable for performance, motivating staff to improve performance and being responsible for the operation of the department, measurement, assessment and continuous improvement of the department's performance.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
License or Certification:
Three years healthcare food service management experience or,
CDM or Dietetic Technician registration with ADA, current member of ADA, NIFI certified is required if the position supervises Nutritional Services
Total Education, Vocational Training and Experience:
Graduate of an associate degree program in food service, preferred. Must have thorough knowledge of nutrition and dietetics, administration and operation of hospital food services, and knowledge of all H.A.C.C.P. guidelines, preferred.
Machines, Equipment Used:
General office equipment, cash register, oven, mixer, steamer, grill, oven, fryer, food processor, food slicer, dish machine and scales.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, push, pull, and retrieve.
Ability to safely lift objects weighing minimum of 20 pounds.
Ability to demonstrate safe retrieval skills from above head to floor level.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English.
Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner
Ability to communicate effectively in both writing and verbal arenas as well as via email.
Ability to work independently without supervision.
Environmental Conditions:
Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke-free environment. Occasional outdoor exposure
Exposure or potential exposure to blood and body fluids may be required.
Handicapped accessibility.
May work under stressful circumstances at times.
Proficiency or Productivity Standards:
May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and or night shifts if needed to meet deadlines.
May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts.
Will be required to work as necessary during disaster situations, i.e. before, during or after a disaster.
May be required to stay after workday to assist after a disaster situation until relief arrives.
Regular attendance and reporting on time to work is a requirement of position.
