Purpose of the Job/Principal Responsibilities: The Director of HR for Kaplan University (KU) Group directs the HR activities within the assigned client group. Direct recruiting activities within client group and support recruitiment strategy, process and compliance efforts. Must be well versed in leading and conducting highly sensitive, complex investigations; interpret Kaplan policies in the delivery of HR programs and business initiatives; and exercise creative problem solving skills. Manage HR and Recruiting professionals. Builds relationships and works effectively with all levels of management and employees.
Typical activities include:
Hire, train, manage and retain a high caliber Human Resources and Recruiting team. Coach staff members to provide HR leadership, outstanding recruiting services and support to the client group. Provide oversight of employee relation issues, prevention of adverse incidents, performance counseling, and performance management. Conducts and supervises investigations and partners with VP and legal counsel. Be a strategic partner with business leaders to direct recruiting efforts for exempt, non-exempt, and temporary personnel by directing entire recruiting lifecycle: sourcing resumes/candidates, resume review, phone and scheduling interviews, offers, tracking and reporting of candidate and interview data. Direct and coordinate recruitment efforts across client group, which may include all KU locations and remote workers. Provide assistance and guidance to managers and employees in the areas of policies and procedures including employment, compensation, benefits and employee relations.
Partner with senior management and Talent Development in completing annual talent assessments and succession plans. Gives suggestion to managers and employees to assist in maximizing employee development.
Responsible for the establishment of performance management practices and follows through with action plans as needed. Create and/or review all performance management documentation for business units or for HR reports.
Coach and direct supervisors and staff in the delivery and tracking of performance management.
Partner with HR team and site management to review annual employee engagement results; monitor and assess action plans throughout the year to ensure year over year gains in engagement.
Manage and favorably impact HR/Recruiting metrics such as employee engagement, retention, time to fill open positions, and quality of hire. Must develop strategy to improve areas of concern and maintain peak performance. Must manage recruiting staff using established metrics, continuously improving process and deliverables.
Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting the HR function. Monitors exposure of the company. Directs the preparation of information requested or required for compliance. Document and manage employee relation files and maintain confidentiality of files and access to the official record on file. Maintain current knowledge of HR and recruiting needs across the client group; advise management and share knowledge of industry standards. Participate in HR department meetings; represent the interests of a large population of employees with regards to HR projects, initiatives and resource planning and allocation. Participate in the development and implementation of in-house training programs that address the company’s changing needs in conjunction with the HR Talent Development department.

Job Requirements
Experience Required:
A bachelor's degree and ten (10) plus years of Human Resources experience, OR A master' degree in Human Resources Management and seven (7+) years of HR experience, OR Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification preferred. International HR experience strongly preferred as this is expected to be an increasing focus of the client group Experience working with sales force and call center population beneficial Knowledge and experience with corporate staff recruiting required
