Job Description
Responsible for implementation and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system. Must have the ability to troubleshoot and repair all electrical and mechanical problems on facilities & production equipment A/C & D/C; troubleshoot PLC's & drives; troubleshoot plant lighting systems; troubleshoots controls in production equipment, HVAC, boilers, hydraulic, pneumatic, pumps, compounding tanks, and associated systems. Must be able to train other maintenance associates in basic electrical and mechanical skills. Other duties include disassembly, repair, and reassembly of components, motors, etc. to maintain facilities and production equipment. Must be able to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, perform mathematical calculations; use mechanical tools to include wrenches, meters, etc. to identify mechanical problems; perform needed repairs include preventive maintenance, line/equipment installations and removals.
With specific instructions typical duties and responsibilities include:
- Performs routine repair and maintenance work, proactive inspections and preventive maintenance work.
- Duties are frequently repetitive or involved providing additional physical efforts, such as lifting and moving objects and materials, bending pipe, pulling electrical wires, changing lamps and ballast’s, performs repairs on dock equipment, doors, replacing bearings, gears, drive motors, etc.
- Repairs and maintains physical plant equipment; HVAC; boilers; air compressors; compounding tanks, pumps & motors both A/C & D/C; PLC’s and drives using RS Logixs. Work with HMI (Human Machine Interface)
- The associate in this position will be responsible for assisting across the entire facility and on all shifts.
- Uses hand tools, portable power tools, gas & electric welders and trade tools.
- Supports, follows and administers all work rules established in the Fruit of the Earth Employee Handbook.
- Assists with other departments as needed.
- Remains professionally attired and maintains personal grooming to reflect attention to good personal hygiene practices.
- Achieves and maintains all goals and work standards outlined in current review period.
- Supports other maintenance staff and oversees contractor’s activities.
Job Requirements
- Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or G.E.D; 5 years experience in electrical, and Industrial Plant Electrical Maintenance, a certification is required in one or more trade. Must have a current Master Electrical License.
- Must have a working knowledge of troubleshooting primarily electrical systems low voltage, 120 volts, 240 volts, 277 volts & 460 volts both single phase and three phase, controls, lighting systems, switches, breakers, wiring, distribution, switch gears, troubleshooting, repairs and servicing. PLC experience a plus as well as HVAC systems, boilers, hydraulic and mechanical problems, install and repair equipment, perform electrical installations, etc.
- The Industrial Plant Maintenance Electrician is going to be providing facility & production support to this fast-paced production plant.
- Working knowledge of building security and fire systems.
- PC system knowledge on Microsoft Word, Excel, and CMMS a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Able to work at heights using ladders above floor level 30 feet and higher.
- Valid Master Electrician License, Texas driver’s license and good current driving records.
- Good personal grooming and hygiene consistent with a clean work environment.
- Ability to use hand tools, ladders, welding & brazing equipment, test instruments and shop equipment.
