Insurance Representative
About Us:
The goal of the doctors, nurses, and staff at South Texas Spinal Clinic is to provide the very best spinal care to the people of San Antonio and patients of South Texas. This is accomplished through coordination and interaction between the doctor, his nurse, and the patient resulting in timely care with a high level of expertise. Any suggestions on how we can better the process will be greatly appreciated. We specialize in the surgical and medical management of back and neck disorders including back and neck injuries, fractures, herniated discs resulting in are or leg pain (radiculopathy), spinal stenosis, scoliosis, and degenerative deformities.
Job Summary of Insurance Representative:
- Performs insurance billing and collection duties including insurance verification and authorization.
- Resolves patient billing inquiries and problems, follow up on balances due from insurance companies, and prepare invoices to insurance companies.
- Enters data electronically to process charges, payments, denials and adjustments.
- Analyzes and codes office visits and surgical procedures using ICD-9 & CPT-4 codes.
- Performs financial counseling and arranges upfront payments and payment plans.
- Contacts insurance companies and employers and third parties as needed to ensure timely and accurate payment.
- Ensures payment is received for all services provided.
- Position reports to Accounts Receivable Manager
- Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM
Job Requirements

Requirements of Insurance Representative:
- High school diploma with minimum 1-2 years of relevant work experience in medical billing or coding field.
- Knowledge of medical billing and insurance claim filing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong basic math skills.
- Knowledge of ICD-9 & CPT-4 coding.
- Must be accurate and detail oriented.
- Must be self-starter and able to work independently.
- Knowledge of Microsoft excel preferred.
