Job Description
The Intermodal Pricing Manager is primarily accountable for developing, quoting, maintaining and administering all special and contract linehaul revenue rates and documentation of accessorial rules and conditions for the NFI RoadRail customer base in an efficient, effective and error free manner that helps maximize overall Net Operating Income. In addition, this position is responsible for:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain all contract and rate negotiations correspondence files with RoadRail Customers.
- Ensuring all pricing from underlying rail carriers is appropriate, fully documented in writing, and properly synchronized with RoadRail offerings to our customers.
- Developing, documenting and implementing standardized processes and improved pricing tools and guidelines as appropriate.
- Quote and confirm pricing to RoadRail customers in a timely fashion.
- Actively participate in bids, RFP responses, and contract negotiation s as directed. Research and evaluate relevant factors to publish accurate price quote(s) for customers based on the competitive environment.
- Ensure billing accuracy is maintained by promptly resolving exceptions, and implement processes and measures to reduce overall error levels.
- Understand and corrects issues which create invoicing exceptions in a timely manner.
- Work with finance staff as well as customer service and transportation purchasing staff to resolve invoicing or short payment issues. Maintain a problem log to enable the measurement, root cause analysis, and elimination over time of billing errors and settlements.
- Reviews contracts and long term negotiated rates periodically; negotiate long-term adjustments as needed. Administers and supports various company sponsored rate activities including surcharges, general rate increases and selective rate increases.
- Related duties as assigned by the V.P. of Intermodal Operations.
Job Requirements
Experience and Skill Requirements:
- College degree in business, transportation management or a minimum of 3 years experience in a 3rd party, logistics, Intermodal or truck brokerage environment.
- Customer pricing experience.
- Excellent MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Strong negotiation skills, with a proven track record.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal are essential, including excellent telephone skills.
- Analytical, shows a business approach to creative problem solving, is process and analytically driven, demonstrates the ability to quickly absorbs the facts of a situation, understand the issues, and formulate and evaluate potential solutions
