Summary - IT / System Engineer
Working out of the Service Center in Beachwood, OH, this person would use their expertise in IT systems, hardware and software for detailed trouble shooting and repair of MDG Products. We are looking for an IT professional/engineer with 3-5 years of multi-discipline experience doing integration of electrical, mechanical, communications and IT subsystems. This position is paid on a 1099 basis.
Responsibilities - IT / System Engineer:
- Recommend, configure, and deploy new servers and network equipment as needed
- Maintain networking and server infrastructure for multiple development, testing, and live environments
- Troubleshoot service failures and maintain knowledgebase for future issues
- Monitor servers, network equipment, and proactively maintain equipment
- Conduct service updates, and new version releases
- Be the IT Customer Support expert for MDG.
- Cross train in other service disciplines including a deep understanding of the MDG application.
- Some travel required (10% - 15% on average)
- A rotation in after hours call support
Job Requirements
IT / System Engineer
Requirements - IT / System Engineer:
- BS in Computer Science or Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience in the following areas
- Microsoft SQL Server & Reporting Services
- Microsoft Terminal Services
- IIS
- Microsoft Exchange
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Must be able to work in a group and provide technical expertise to the group
- Must be able to document processes
- Ability to solve non-routine or complex issues with respect to hardware, software, network, IIS, and SQL Server
- Experience backing up and restoring IIS and SQL Server
- Experience supporting critical business application environments and systems
- Disaster Recovery experience including procedure documentation and recovery testing
- Experience installing and maintaining Windows Virtual Infrastructure environments
- Hands-on experience with Dell and HP servers, workstations, and thin client machines.
- Experience with backup, restore, maintenance plans, and advanced windows administration
- Internal and External DNS troubleshooting
- Excellent understanding of networking protocols and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of RAID concepts
- Experience with monitoring tools
- Experience in creating, and maintaining images.
Nice to haves:
- Supervisor or Management experience
- Experience installing and maintaining VMWare Infrastructure environments
- MCSE
- Cisco or SonicWall experience
