Job Description

Ultra Electronics ProLogic is currently seeking well qualified candiadates for the position of IT Director in Manassas, VA.
This is a management level position responsible for analyzing and directing all IT related activities of the organization with supervisory responsibilities for all staff assigned to the IT department. This position is accountable for ensuring continuity of computer services for computer users throughout the organization through planning, technical leadership, and project coordination.

 Responsibilities:

1. Build and develop IT organization, processes and procedures to support business needs.
2. Enforce company policies and procedures as a member of management for all employees.
3. Analyzes complex business needs presented by the user community and recommends technical solutions.
4. Must partner with management team to align company information technology with strategic direction.
5. Ensures the consistency and maintainability of existing applications by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions.
6. Determine the goals of IT within broad outlines provided by the executive management and contribute to the continuity of computer services by providing necessary technical leadership and project coordination.
7. Forecast costs, equipment and personnel needs for projects and programs as required and related to MIS operations.
8. Prepares long and short-range plans for application selection, systems development, and acquisition of the resources needed to support them. Assures responsiveness of long-range plans to corporate objectives.

Additional Responsibilities
1. Capture, monitor and analyze computer usage data, recommend and implement policies, software and hardware to provide maximum resource utilization in a cost-efficient manner
2. Assume the leadership role in developing and maintaining a company disaster recovery plan.
3. Structures, leads, train, and develops IT staff for maximum effectiveness. Perform all other supervisory responsibilities associated with the IT department including employee related issues.
4. Directs and prioritizes the work load of subordinate personnel to ensures users/customers are provided professional, courteous, and timely support and service.
5. Establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with co-workers, and every level of management.
6. Develop, recommend, and administer information technology policies and procedures; audit information system use for compliance.
7. Establish and maintain relationships with contractors and equipment suppliers.
8. Stay abreast of the latest developments in MIS technology and remain highly technically competent at all levels of data processing while striving for enhanced user productivity through implementation of new software technology where applicable, and the implementation of policies that more effectively utilize MIS resources.
9. Performs other duties as may be assigned.



Job Requirements

Minimum experience and skills required:

  • Good understanding of current applications and trends in MIS technology.
  • Ability to analyze information related to computer technology to assist in directing company management in the selection of software and hardware to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Ability to exercise strong judgment in analyzing, appraising, evaluating and solving problems of a difficult procedural, organizational, administrative or technical nature.
  • Leadership: a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
  • Strategy and planning: an ability to think ahead and plan over a 12-24 month time span.
  • Management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Information systems development and implementation.
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
  • Technical skills and experience in Local and Wide Area Networks.
  • Strong customer orientation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High performance teams and a strong team player.

Minimum education and training required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or related field.
