Job Description
AmeriPath, a Quest Diagnostics Subsidiary, is one of the leading anatomic pathology practices in the United States offering a broad range of testing and information services used by physicians in the detection, diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of cancer and other diseases and medical conditions. AmeriPath's extensive diagnostics infrastructure includes over 400 pathologists and doctorate-level scientists providing services in over 40 independent pathology laboratories and in more than 200 hospitals across the US.
1. Assists the Managing Director, Medical Director and Regional Director of Operations to establish and implement short-term and long-term operating plans including expansion of testing menu, development of marketing strategy to support selling efforts of Territory Managers, and calculation of capital requirements for department budgets. Assists with preparation of annual budget, statistical information regarding procedures, clients, and patients; manages associate staffing including retention, hiring and terminations. 2. Ensures successful implementation of all new tests performed at or routed through the Alpha Road lab. 3. Ensures all testing meets acceptable standards established by CAP and CLIA. 4. Interfaces with Anatomic Pathology West Region Executive Management, Pathologists, and Laboratory Management, including Directors, Managers, Supervisors, and associates.
5. Provides assistance to Medical Director and Director of Quality Improvement with CAP Inspection, quality assurance and improvement. 6. Works with Technical Supervisors or managers on technical associate's Employee Performance Appraisals. 7. Coordinates the distribution of Employee Performance Appraisals to Supervisors and Managers. 8. Works with all lab Managers and Supervisors to ensure that appropriate supply of inventory is managed in a timely and efficient manner. 9. Provides input to Regional Director of Operations, all Lab Managers and Supervisors, and HR Generalist with staffing needs to ensure departments are adequately covered. 10. Provides regular feedback to the Medical Director and Technical Supervisors or Managers on implementation of new test offerings. 11. Demonstrates an ability to communicate effectively and express ideas clearly with the staff and all other health care professionals. 12. Works closely with Supervisor of Outpatient Services, Sales and Marketing to assure good client and patient relations. 13. Works closely with the Medical Director and Regional Director of Operations on the implementation of the Laboratory's Quality Improvement Plan, Safety Program, Compliance and HIPAA requirements. 14. Works with Medical Director, Technical Supervisors and Managers and Supervisors on maintenance of the Client Specimen Collection Manuals.
Job Requirements
Only Candidiates with Previous Anatomic Pathology Experience will be considered!
Required: 1. Bachelors of Science Degree (Master or PhD desireable) 2. ASCP Certification
2. Training in Medical Technology and Histology 3. 5 to 7 years experience in related field 4. 8 years experience of Laboratory Management 5. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) and Database Management.
Required: General understanding of lab operations, technical processes, and lab equipment functionality.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Experienced laboratory technologist or technician with experience in technical operations, supervision of technical staff, familiarity with client and customer service, previous experience working directly with physicians, familiarity with billing, finance, accounting, and Laboratory Information Systems. Knowledge and experience with CAP accreditation processes, laboratory safety and laboratory quality management processes.
