Job Description
This is an day position with the ability to work the evening shift to cover vacation and sick days. Also must be able to work every third weekend day shift. Part time positions work a minimum of 30 hours a week. No calls please.
Responsible for performing technical assignments of a complex nature, which requires a through understanding of the procedures and the ability to withstand stressful situations. Under general supervision performs all laboratory procedures in a prompt, accurate, and reliable manner according to established blood center and departmental policies and procedures.

Perform blood processing, component preparation, quality control, shipping, and proficiency testing as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures; the above procedures are performed on a rotating schedule as approved by the Director or designee

Correctly prepare reagents and test samples

Be able to set up and operate instruments in all areas of rotation

Be able to enter and retrieve patient and donor data accurately utilizing the blood center computer system

Become familiar with troubleshooting techniques for the major instruments in laboratory, component, and distribution of areas

Responsible to report any irregularities in test results or equipment malfunction to the Director or designee

Participate in emergency call, weekends, and holiday duty roster

General knowledge of state, federal and professional blood banking standards and laws, (AABB, FDA, and NJSDOH)
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or equivalent education in a related field.
- Experience in a blood banking preferred.
- Mathematical, computer, reasoning and language skills at the college level-4 years
