Mass. Electric Construction Co. is a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation and part of Kiewit’s Eastern District. With offices located in New York City, we are uniquely qualified to provide the highest standards of electrical construction for any size project. We provide design-build, budgeting, value engineering and maintenance services for a wide array of commercial/industrial customers.
Manages estimators and the estimating process to ensure bid take offs, estimated material, and labor quantities are done accurately and meet the requirements of bid preparation schedules. Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of experience in the electrical estimating field required with specific transit electrical estimating experience preferred. Must be familiar with typical electrical construction means and methods and must be capable of developing build schemes and project schedules for projects bid. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Willing to train/mentor existing and new hire employees. Manages assigned bid teams and required to interface with senior management.
Job Requirements
Experience with complex electrical construction is required. Must have strong communication and leadership skills. Computer skills including proficiency in the use of the full suite of MS-Office, MS-VISIO Project, MS-Project and estimating software are preferable. Strong multi tasking skill are required, expectation is for candidate to be capable of estimate/coordinating multi projects at one time. This is a position that requires a person comfortable with details and good people skills for motivation of estimating staff. Prior vendor/material sourcing for pricing a plus.
College level courses in Electrical Engineering and Estimating. Work experience, with references can be substituted for degree. Minimum five (5) years experience in the electrical construction estimating field is required. Skilled in analyzing and interpreting owner’s drawings, specifications. Skilled in analyzing and interpreting vendor quotes for major equipment, materials and electrical fixtures of all types.
Completely versed with developing comparison spread sheets for equipment and material buyouts. Familiar with and experienced in preparing terms and conditions for purchase orders, material subcontracts and subcontracts.
Must be capable of identifying and quantifying risks and opportunities in bid packages presented.
