Job Description

Responsible for implementing the accident prevention program and federal and state regulations for multiple assigned projects, employee and subcontractor training, performing job site safety inspections, accident and incident investigation and record keeping. Investigate all accidents/incidents and near misses, take photographs to report findings.

Purpose:
Proactively implement company safety programs to enforce compliance on assigned job sites and prevent accidents and reduce time lost due to accidents by developing and communicating safety programs and policies.


Job Requirements

Essential Functions (including, but not limited to):

  • Must have commercial construction experience.
  • Federal experience preferred.
  • Conduct new employee project orientation and basic training with Balfour Beatty Construction and subcontractor employees.
  • Assist Loss Prevention and Operations in preparing safety related bid documents and project-specific safety programs.
  • Coordinate all Loss Prevention efforts on the project with the Project Manager and Superintendent.
  • Attend Subcontractor preconstruction meetings, review task specific JHAs and assist with planning for safety issues.
  • Assist with material and equipment acquisition for new project setup.
  • Assist Human Resources and Field Office Managers with drug and alcohol testing.
  • Conduct frequent inspections of projects and identify current and future safety challenges.
  • Assist Loss Prevention in establishing and administering project safety recognition programs.
  • Prepare written reports of project inspections and assist project staff with correcting and preventing hazards.
  • Conduct project loss prevention audits.
  • Provide technical safety consulting services for projects and review preconstruction safety submittals.
  • Lead Loss Prevention and project staff with safety training at all levels.
  • Assist with establishing and maintaining a project crisis management plan.
  • Keep current with new developments in OSHA and environmental regulations and company safety policies, and communicate to appropriate personnel.
  • Conduct accident investigations and assist with OSHA and environmental inspections.
  • Manage workers compensation claims including the return to work program.
  • Maintain project incident logs for all reported injuries, GL claims, WC claims, and OSHA recordables.
  • Assist Superintendent with sediment and erosion control, other environmental responsibilities.
  • Bi-lingual a plus.
