The main responsibility for the Manager is to implement the strategic plan to penetrate target markets in the construction industry. Manager will lead an interdisciplinary team to assemble and validate high performance building systems, and promote these solutions in the target market. The team will consist of applications experts and market development professionals focusing on the education, government and office segments. The Manager must continuously evolve and regenerate BASF building assemblies and ensure they are developed, tested, validated and marketed in close cooperation with the RBU's (Regional Business Units). Key Responsibilities: - The Manager will select, develop and manage an interdisciplinary team to develop and validate building assemblies that strengthen BASF's position in the construction industry.
- Support positioning the current portfolio of building solutions in the market and gain qualifications required to develop new business
- Lead continuous innovation in building systems that enable customers to build higher performance and more sustainable buildings.
- Communicate to all key stakeholders in the construction market, form alliances with industry partners/customers and work with regulatory organizations.
- The Manager will interact with all levels in BASF as well as coordinate with other BASF efforts within the construction arena.
Scope: - Set-up and lead an interdisciplinary team (final team to consist of 12 market and development and 5 building and application experts)
- Drive building systems development, application testing and validation, as well as promote them as high performing solutions to the education and government office building segments.
- Identify and coordinate relationships with value-adding alliance partners (industry associations, code/regulation institutions, etc.)
- Establish open and disciplined communication with RBU's for effective exchange of technical information and commercial opportunities.
- Develop content for market communications projects including tools to aid customers in using BASF building systems.
- Be accountable for business plan.
The location of this position can be in any of the following four BASF sites: Florham Park, NJ Charlotte, NC Beachwood, OH Wyandotte, MI
Job Requirements
- Bachelors Degree required with a technical focus. MBA or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum of 10 years experience within the construction industry. Must be an industry expert.
- At least 7 years supervisory/management experience required.
- Extensive commercial construction industry experience required.
- Strong orientation around sustainability required. LEED accreditation strongly preferred.
- Extensive project management experience required. Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects at one time.
- Market Development and sales experience required.
- Significant experience in education and/or government/public projects required. Design-build experience a strong plus.
- Ability to navigate and manage relations within political realm both internally and externally.
- Management of large scale commercial projects required.
BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or an equivalent.
