Manage and coordinate the purchase of IT (Information Technology) products and services including communication devices, hardware, software, etc. that are more complex in nature and require moderate to long lead time. Work closely with IT personnel to obtain detailed specifications, implement strategies, policies, procedures, systems, and terms and conditions which lead to the selection of the fewest, highest quality, continually improving suppliers at competitive costs, highest technology, and timely delivery performance.
Responsibilities: For assigned commodities, implements supply base management strategies that lead to lowest total cost in terms of quality, lead time, delivery, service and unit cost. Supports the selection of suppliers, negotiates and maintains performance to expectations plus drives supplier continuous improvement. Finalizes contracts with suppliers and internal organizations and customers on such matters as minimums, lead times, quality, specifications, price changes, terms and conditions, and other Purchasing matters to ensure costs are minimized and maximum value is received. Working directly with FGP (Fiat Group Purchasing), develops and implements global supplier strategies that drive commodity improvements on quality, cost and delivery. Identifies areas requiring process improvement. Initiates and leads team-based effort to implement improvements Initiates, develops, and implements major cost savings in conjunction with Information Technology, Applications Support, Product Engineering, QC, Manufacturing, Service Parts and Logistics with implementation responsibility related to suppliers (e.g., JIT programs in Manufacturing). Identification of opportunities to meet objectives for supplier reduction, creation of value, supply chain improvement, and customer satisfaction.
Communicates internally with buyers, suppliers, customers, as well as global interaction among Fiat Purchasing Group.
Communicates with Product Engineering, Finance, IT, Applications, Quality, Plant Quality, and Supply Chain Logistics.
Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field. 4-6 years of experience in a supply activity with several years of commodity purchasing experience Thorough knowledge of Corporate purchasing practices and negotiation strategies. Advanced computer skills, excellent communication skills, good analytical and problem solving skills An extensive amount of independent thinking is required. Previous leadership experience required
