Job Description
MANIILAQ ASSOCIATION IS SEEKING A REMOTE MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST
Maniilaq Association is a progressive Tribal organization located in Kotzebue, Alaska providing health, social and tribal services to the people of the Maniilaq service area.
Position provides training to Water Plant Operators concerning operation and maintenance of water plant. Assists Utility Managers & Water Plant Operators in developing an operation & maintenance plan of water and sewer utilities. Position assists villages during emergencies related to water and sewer.
Two years experience in the field of sanitation facility construction and repair preferably with experience in Arctic climate conditions or college level courses in water treatment and/or certification in water and waste water operation. Requires the ability to work without supervision, the ability to collect and interpret data and write reports. Requires the ability to relate well with persons of various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. One year experience in program development and training in related fields. Knowledge and experience in electrical system, boiler operation, plumbing and general maintenance of small engines and appliances is required. Operator in Training State Certification in water treatment, and distribution required. Operator in Training State Certification Waste water treatment and collection desirable. Ability to travel in small aircraft is required. More than half of work time will be in villages. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Ability to work evenings and/or weekend shifts.
Minimum pay is $21.20/hour and increases with experience and education.
Relocation assistance may be possible with a two year agreement ($3500 single/ $5000 family).
