Join STERIS in its vision to see the world free from Infection and Contamination as a MANUFACTURING ENGINEER - ELECTRICAL (CONTROLS) Responsible for implementation of project and process support activities towards attainment of engineering goals. Primary focus on automated production, cost and process improvements on high speed packaging lines. Will handle multiple assignments at the same time. 1. Equipment & Control Engineering: Key technical resource, working with plant maintenance to trouble shoot and resolve automated liquid sterilizer capsuling, powder dispensing packaging equipment problems. Identify and implement appropriate preventive maintenance programs for equipment overhaul as needed. Evaluate and trouble shoot equipment control system including PLC programs to resolve problems and enhance performance. 2. Process Improvements & Cost reductions: Investigate and analyze dispensing and high speed packaging processes for on-going continuous improvement in areas of quality, cost, throughput, capability, efficiency and overhaul resource utilization. Monitor available technologies in packaging materials and processes to identify opportunities for improvement. Spearhead cross function teams to identify cost reduction projects and programs in a time sensitive environment. Monitor and communicate project progress to management 3. Quality: Apply statistical process controls, process capability studies, design of experiments to optimize processes and product quality. Support validations on new and current processes and equipment. 4. Working knowledge of statistical analytical programs like Minitab, Microsoft project, Excel, Autocad / Pro-E etc. 5. Experience with engineering change controls is required. Able to handle engineering changes in PLM environment. 6. Knowledge and experience in of Lean, six sigma and project management. 7. Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, and a minimum of 3-5 years experience in manufacturing engineering in a high speed packaging/ automation environment required. Experience in designing and troubleshooting of automated packaging equipment to optimize production and processes and its integration at systems level. Capable of directing personnel in troubleshooting and maintenance of electronics, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment used in high speed packaging. Experience in PLC programming required. Experience with Autocad/ Pro-E is required.. Knowledge and experience in validations is required. Medical device Design/ Manufacturing is required. Air conditioned (65º - 70 º F) atmosphere maintained. Standing, sitting, walking, bending, crouching, and lifting (70 lbs. maximum) during equipment testing. Keyboard work at computer monitor is necessary. Ability to travel is required. Must wear safety shoes and safety glasses on manufacturing floor.
